Marseille · Refrigerated transport

In Marseille, we deliver your chilled and frozen products before your customers open.

Our partner couriers in Marseille collect your products at night, from your wholesaler or your central kitchen, and hand them over to your customers before they open to the public, in a refrigerated vehicle that carries only your goods: for example, the meat and fish for a restaurant in the city centre.

Refrigerated transport in Marseille

We organise your refrigerated rounds around three Marseille constraints

Our couriers collect your products from your wholesaler as soon as trading opens

Food wholesalers serve their buyers very early: at the Marché Marseille Méditerranée in Les Arnavaux, for example, Monday to Friday from 3am to noon, and on Saturday from 4am to 9am. The courier collects your products from 3am on weekdays and from 4am on Saturday, from your wholesaler or as they leave your central kitchen, having first brought the vehicle down to temperature.

In the regulated-traffic zone, the courier unloads at a loading bay we choose before the round

In the regulated-traffic zone in the centre, loading and unloading in the street is banned at all times, and the city has marked out loading bays for it. Before the round sets off, we choose the bay where the courier stops for each customer. If your customer has not opened yet, the courier lets themselves in with the codes or keys you entrust to us and puts your products away in your customer’s cold room.

We deliver to restaurants and shops in the city centre first

The round starts with those addresses so as to reach them before 10am: at the entrance to some pedestrian areas, the bollards are lowered for deliveries only in the morning. As the courier collects your products before dawn, from your wholesaler or your kitchen, we keep to that order and confirm the time of each handover when you book.

How we work

We deliver your fresh and frozen products overnight to your customers in Marseille and Aix-en-Provence

We build each refrigerated round in Marseille around the time your first customer opens. We deliver to your city-centre customers first, before 10am, while some pedestrian areas are open to deliveries, then those who take delivery throughout the morning. In the regulated-traffic zone, we choose the loading bay where the courier unloads; for an address in the ZFE, we send a refrigerated vehicle that is allowed there.

Before the first round, we agree with you the packaging, the temperature each product must be kept at and the time each customer takes delivery. The job goes to one of our partner couriers in Marseille, chosen for their refrigerated vehicle: it loads only your products and runs set to their temperature range. You almost always have several customers, and we link their addresses into a round; those who open early are served by our night deliveries. On a regular round, an on-board logger records the temperature continuously, and we alert you to any deviation. During the journey, our team follows every stop, every day from 6am to 10pm, and it is our team, not yours, that calls back a customer who cannot be reached. Refrigerated transport is most of what we do, and its page describes the service in full.

Who trusts us with their chilled and frozen products in Marseille

  • Food wholesalers, whose restaurant customers in central Marseille and across the Métropole expect their order before service.
  • Caterers and central kitchens, which produce at night for their own outlets or for staff canteens, as far as Aix-en-Provence.
  • Retail chains restocking the chilled and frozen aisles of their shops and supermarkets, from Marseille to Aubagne, before they open to the public.

The service

What our refrigerated transport includes

The service is the same in all our cities. In Marseille, we organise it around the pedestrian areas’ hours, the loading bays of the regulated-traffic zone and the low-emission zone (ZFE) in the heart of the city.

Cold-chain expertise

Refrigerated transport starts before departure

Pre-cooling the vehicle, temperature at loading, handling instructions: our team agrees the necessary precautions with you and passes them on to the transport partners.

On your regular refrigerated rounds, data loggers track temperatures during transport. If there is a deviation or anything unexpected, our team coordinates the response with the carrier and keeps you informed.

The unexpected should not disrupt your business

A carrier unavailable, a vehicle off the road or a rise in orders? The Shippr team finds a replacement that meets your temperature requirements and adjusts the organisation of your rounds.

We coordinate the changes with the partners and let you know the new times, to limit the impact on your supply and your customers.

Frequently asked questions

You ask us how we deliver your chilled and frozen products to your customers in Marseille

My customer opens before 9am: can you deliver from 7am?

Yes, in a loading bay: from 7am to 9am, the city bans loading in the street outside those bays. We plan the courier’s stop at one of them, or we place the handover before 7am, with your codes or keys if the shop is still closed.

Can your refrigerated vehicle enter Marseille’s low-emission zone?

Yes. For a round that goes inside the main boulevards, we send a refrigerated vehicle whose Crit’Air sticker allows it to drive and park there, at no extra cost to you.

My wholesaler is at the Marché des Arnavaux: do you collect my order on a Saturday?

Yes. On Saturday, the wholesalers of the Marché Marseille Méditerranée, which is reserved for food trade professionals, serve their buyers from 4am to 9am. We set the collection within those hours, then the courier delivers to your customers on the same journey.

My customer in the regulated-traffic zone takes both chilled and frozen products: does the courier have to stop twice?

No. We send a dual-temperature vehicle, with one chilled compartment and one frozen compartment: from the same loading bay, the courier hands your customer their chilled and frozen products in a single stop. The city limits the stop there to 15 minutes, unless signed otherwise on site, and we prepare the load so that the handover fits within that time.

A supermarket in Vitrolles or Aubagne asks for a refrigerated lorry over 3.5 tonnes: can you send one?

Yes, it is possible, but not guaranteed. For a delivery of that size, we check when you book that one of our partners in Marseille has a refrigerated lorry over 3.5 tonnes available that day, and give you the answer then.

Do your customers in Marseille need their fresh products before they open?

Tell us your products, their temperature, the time they are ready and the time each customer opens. We come back to you with a refrigerated vehicle, a collection time and the order of stops.
