Delivery · Glasgow

In Glasgow, our partner couriers deliver to your customers across the eight council areas of the Glasgow City Region.

Our partner couriers in Glasgow load your goods at your warehouse, your central kitchen or your wholesaler, then hand them over to your customers, in the heart of the city as well as in Renfrewshire, Inverclyde or North Lanarkshire.

In the city centre, a Low Emission Zone applies to every vehicle, and in the pedestrianised parts of Buchanan Street and Sauchiehall Street, vehicle access is restricted from 10am to 7pm. We send a compliant vehicle there at no extra charge, and from the moment you book we fit each handover into the window its address allows; when we cannot keep to it, we tell you there and then.

Delivering in Glasgow

The Glasgow rules that change the way we deliver to your customers

Only compliant vehicles can enter the city centre without a penalty, day or night

Since 1 June 2023, the Low Emission Zone has applied to every vehicle entering the city centre, between the M8 to the north and west, the Clyde to the south and Saltmarket and High Street to the east, 24 hours a day, all year round. A diesel van must be Euro 6 and a petrol van Euro 4 there, and the council does not normally grant exemptions for routine deliveries. For an address inside that boundary, we therefore always send a vehicle that meets those standards, at no extra cost to you.

For a shop on Buchanan Street or Sauchiehall Street, we fit the handover into the window its address allows

In the pedestrianised parts of Buchanan Street and Sauchiehall Street, vehicle access is restricted every day from 10am to 7pm. For a shop on those streets, we place the handover in the window its address allows and tell you when you book; if we cannot keep to it, you know at that point.

We work out your handover times at 20 mph in the city centre

Glasgow city centre is limited to 20 mph, as are 340 km of the city’s streets. Our planning and routing algorithms allow for that speed when they set the time of each stop, so your customer knows when the courier will arrive.

We collect at night from your wholesaler or your central kitchen

Restaurants, caterers and shops want their fresh products before they open. We collect them at night or before dawn, wherever your order is ready: at your central kitchen, or from a trader at the Glasgow Wholesale Market in Blochairn, where most fruit, vegetable and flower merchants work from 2am to 9am on weekdays. We deliver to your customers before they open.

Local rules checked in October 2026.

Glasgow and its region

We deliver across the Glasgow City Region allowing for the zone, the pedestrianised streets and your customers’ hours

In Glasgow, a city centre delivery depends first on the vehicle: the Low Emission Zone, between the M8, the Clyde and High Street, applies at all hours, and only a compliant vehicle enters without a penalty. It then depends on the time, because in the pedestrianised parts of Buchanan Street and Sauchiehall Street, vehicle access is restricted from 10am to 7pm. Around the city, eight council areas make up the Glasgow City Region, from the shores of Inverclyde to the towns of Lanarkshire. We settle both questions when you book, so the delivery then goes as planned.

Your goods travel in a vehicle reserved for them

The courier loads at your site and goes straight to your recipients, with no depot or sorting centre in between: an East Renfrewshire warehouse restocking shops in the city centre, a wholesaler supplying restaurants in town, a North Lanarkshire workshop sending a part to a customer in West Dunbartonshire.

Most often, your orders go to several addresses. We chain them into a round, in the order your customers’ windows and the access hours of the pedestrianised parts of Buchanan Street and Sauchiehall Street call for. That is how our same-day delivery works, from a van to a truck of over 20 m³.

Our refrigerated rounds leave before dawn

Refrigerated transport is most of our work, chilled as well as frozen. The Blochairn wholesalers open in the middle of the night, central kitchens finish their production before daybreak, and the region’s restaurants, shops and supermarkets want their chilled and frozen products before they open to the public. Our night deliveries fit into that gap; if nobody is there yet, the courier can let themselves in with the codes or keys you entrust to us.

We take the follow-up off your hands

A customer who is out, a closed road, a loading bay already taken: our team spots the problem, decides what happens next with the courier, then lets you know. Following up each delivery often takes longer than the delivery itself; your teams no longer have to chase the courier or the customer. Our team follows your deliveries every day from 6am to 10pm.

We also deliver between Glasgow and the rest of the country

A supplier based elsewhere in the UK can hand us its deliveries to Glasgow, and a warehouse in the City Region can supply customers across the country. Shippr has been delivering in the UK since 2023.

What we do in Glasgow

Our whole offer runs in Glasgow, and two services have their own page here

Same-day delivery has its page because, in Glasgow, the city centre calls for a compliant vehicle and a handover time that suits the pedestrianised parts of Buchanan Street and Sauchiehall Street; refrigerated transport, because its rounds leave at night, from the wholesale market or your central kitchen. Our other services, such as store-to-store transfers or night deliveries, work in Glasgow as they do in all our cities.

Frequently asked questions

What you ask us before we deliver in Glasgow

My customers are in Inverclyde and South Lanarkshire: do you deliver there too?

Yes. We deliver across the eight council areas of the Glasgow City Region: East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, Glasgow, Inverclyde, North Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, South Lanarkshire and West Dunbartonshire. Beyond them, we deliver everywhere in the United Kingdom.

Does the Low Emission Zone make my city centre deliveries more expensive?

No. The vehicle we send into the city centre meets the zone’s standards, and we charge you nothing for it. In any case, there is no entry charge to pay: a non-compliant vehicle in the zone receives a penalty, which cannot be paid in advance.

Does a courier on the M8 enter the Low Emission Zone?

No. The M8 runs along the north and west of the zone without being part of it. A round that uses it to get from Renfrewshire to North Lanarkshire does not cross the zone; only handovers inside the city centre need a compliant vehicle, and that is the one we send.

Can you deliver to a shop on Buchanan Street?

Yes. In the pedestrianised part of Buchanan Street, vehicle access is restricted every day from 10am to 7pm. We fit the handover into the window your shop’s address allows and confirm it when you book; if we cannot keep to it, we tell you at that point.

Can you collect my order from the Blochairn wholesale market?

Yes. At the Glasgow Wholesale Market, most fruit, vegetable and flower merchants open from 2am to 9am, Monday to Friday, and the fish merchants from 3am to 9am, Tuesday to Saturday. We collect your order from the trader when it is ready, then the round reaches your customers before they open their doors.
