Delivery · Leeds

In Leeds, we deliver to your customers across West Yorkshire, working around the hours of the city-centre pedestrian zone.

Our partner couriers in Leeds load your goods at your warehouse, your central kitchen or your wholesaler, then hand them over to your customers, in Leeds itself as well as in Bradford, Wakefield, Calderdale or Kirklees.

Leeds has no Clean Air Zone. Instead, the main shopping streets close to traffic from mid-morning, and bus gates on several streets in the centre let through only buses, taxis and cycles at certain times. From the moment you book, we place each handover in the window when the address is open to deliveries; if we cannot keep to it, we tell you then.

Leeds’s rules

What Leeds and West Yorkshire change for a delivery

No Clean Air Zone applies in Leeds

For a delivery within Leeds, we choose the vehicle that suits your volume and your addresses, without looking at its Euro standard. The standard matters only for a round that enters Bradford’s zone.

The shopping streets are pedestrianised from 10.30am to 7pm

Briggate, Lands Lane, Commercial Street, Albion Place and the lower end of Albion Street are reserved for pedestrians between 10.30am and 7pm, and loading is banned on Briggate. So we deliver to a shop on these streets before 10.30am or after 7pm, and you know from the moment you book which of the two we have chosen.

We deliver to Albion Place and New Briggate inside their delivery windows

Deliveries are allowed from 7pm to 10.30am on Albion Place, and from 5am to 10.30am on New Briggate, north of The Headrow. For a customer on either street, we set the handover inside that window, and you know the time when you book.

Bus gates close several central streets to vans

On Vicar Lane and The Headrow, some bus gates close to vans from 5am to 10pm, others from 7am to 10am and 4pm to 7pm, as on Duncan Street; Bridge End is closed to vans from 7am to 7pm. Our routing algorithms avoid the bus gates while they are active, and the handover time we give you already includes the detour.

Loading is banned on several streets at peak hours

On Park Row south of The Headrow, and on other streets in the centre, loading and unloading are banned Monday to Friday from 7am to 10am and 4pm to 7pm. Elsewhere, in the loading bays on Call Lane and Great George Street, a vehicle may stay 40 minutes at most between 7am and 7pm. Our partner stops where loading is allowed at the time they arrive.

Bradford charges vans that do not comply

Bradford’s class C Clean Air Zone covers the area inside the Outer Ring Road, a few routes along the Aire Valley such as Manningham Lane and Canal Road, Shipley and Saltaire. A diesel van older than Euro 6, or a petrol van older than Euro 4, pays £9 a day there, a heavy goods vehicle £50. When a round goes into it, we send a compliant vehicle, and you pay nothing.

Local rules checked in October 2026.

Leeds and West Yorkshire

We organise every round around the delivery windows of central Leeds

Leeds has no Clean Air Zone. What constrains a delivery here is the timetable of the centre: Briggate and the streets around it close to vehicles at 10.30am, bus gates on Vicar Lane, The Headrow and Duncan Street are active at peak hours, and loading is banned on some streets at the same times. Around the city, West Yorkshire has four other districts, and Bradford has its own Clean Air Zone. So we set every delivery in Leeds by its arrival time and its route.

A vehicle reserved for your job goes from your site to your customers

Your goods travel in a vehicle that carries nothing else, from the collection point to your recipients, with no depot or sorting centre in between. A job almost always has several addresses: we group them into a round that starts with the customers in the pedestrian zone, before 10.30am, then carries on to those who take deliveries all day. Our planning and routing algorithms work out the time of each handover from the speed allowed on each street: Leeds sets its 20 mph limit street by street, and Calverley Street, in the centre, is under it along its whole length. That is how our same-day delivery works, from a van to a 20 m³ truck.

Our couriers collect at night and deliver before opening to the public

Refrigerated transport is most of our work, chilled as well as frozen. In West Yorkshire, central kitchens produce through the night and wholesalers make up their orders before dawn. Our partner couriers collect at that point, on our night deliveries, and deliver to restaurants, shops and supermarkets before they open to the public. If no one is there to take delivery, the courier lets themselves in with the key or door code your customer gives us (an unattended drop).

Our team follows every delivery and makes the calls for you

A recipient who is out, a loading bay that is taken, a bus gate that forces a detour: our team contacts the courier and your customer, then lets you know what happens next. Your teams no longer have to make those calls, and that is often where logistics costs them the most time. Our team follows your deliveries every day from 6am to 10pm.

We deliver from West Yorkshire to the whole of the UK

You store stock in Wakefield or Bradford to serve customers in Leeds, or you ship from Leeds to another region: we take on both rounds. Shippr has delivered in the UK since 2023.

What we do in Leeds

Two services have their own Leeds page, and the rest of what we offer works here too

Same-day delivery has its page because the time of a handover here depends on the pedestrian zone and the bus gates; refrigerated transport, because our couriers collect at night and deliver to the centre before 10.30am. Our other services work in Leeds as they do in every city we deliver to.

Frequently asked questions

What you ask us before we deliver in Leeds and West Yorkshire

Do you deliver outside the city of Leeds?

Yes. We cover the five districts of West Yorkshire: Leeds, Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield. Beyond them, we deliver anywhere in the United Kingdom, from Leeds or into it.

Will I have to pay a charge for a delivery within Leeds?

No. Leeds has no Clean Air Zone, so the vehicle we send pays no charge of that kind there. The question arises in Bradford, whose zone charges non-compliant vans £9 a day: when your round passes through it, we send a vehicle that is allowed in, at no cost to you.

Can you deliver to my shop on Briggate in the middle of the day?

No, not between 10.30am and 7pm: Briggate is then reserved for pedestrians and loading is banned. We deliver to your shop before 10.30am or after 7pm, and we tell you the time we have chosen as soon as you book.

Can your courier cross the centre by Vicar Lane or The Headrow?

Yes, before 5am and after 10pm; in between, some bus gates there are active from 5am to 10pm, others only from 7am to 10am and 4pm to 7pm. Our routing algorithms avoid them while they are active, and the handover time we give you includes the detour.
