Delivering in London

What the city requires, and how we organise it

Ultra Low Emission Zone

The ULEZ covers every London borough, 24 hours a day, every day except Christmas Day. A diesel van must be at least Euro 6 and a petrol van Euro 4; otherwise it is £12.50 a day, and a £180 penalty if it is not paid. We send a compliant vehicle: there is nothing for you to check.

Congestion Charge

In central London, every vehicle has paid £18 a day since 2 January 2026, from 7am to 6pm on weekdays and from noon to 6pm at weekends and on bank holidays; an electric van, no longer exempt, pays half. We allow for it when we organise your deliveries, and a collection inside the zone is planned outside those hours where possible.

Red routes

London’s main roads are red routes: 5% of the network, more than 30% of the traffic, and stopping is only allowed in the marked bays at the times shown, on pain of a £160 penalty. We plan every stop where loading is allowed.

20 mph

Every TfL road inside the Congestion Charge zone has been limited to 20 mph since 2020, as have most streets in Islington, Camden, Southwark and Lambeth. Our planning and routing algorithms allow for it, so your recipient knows when to be there.

The night market

New Covent Garden Market at Nine Elms is the UK’s largest wholesale market for fruit, vegetables and flowers, and it trades through the night. We organise collections from wholesalers and rounds to your restaurants and shops before they open to the public.

The M25 and beyond

The ULEZ stops at the M25, which is not part of it. For a collection from a warehouse in Kent or Essex and a delivery in town, the destination decides the vehicle.

Local rules checked in October 2026.

Our customers in London

London, a city where our customers have handed us their logistics

In London, our customers are businesses that produce every day and deliver every day: Pret A Manger, Farmer J, Kim’s Food, Symplicity Foods and Eat Planted. Before Shippr, several of them delivered with their own drivers, or with their shop staff. They handed that part of the work to us so they could get on with the rest.

Collections and deliveries with no stop at a depot

Your goods travel in a vehicle reserved for your job, from the collection point to the planned destinations, with no stop at a depot or a sorting centre. In London, that means you can supply your shops from your production unit, for example, or organise a transfer between two shops within the day.

Most of the time there is not one destination but several: we organise them into a round. That is the principle of our same-day delivery: you give us the addresses, the volumes and the time slots, and we find the right partner and the right vehicle.

Cold, at the pace of your supplies

For food producers, caterers and central kitchens, the day in London starts before opening time. We organise refrigerated transport for your chilled and frozen products, as a one-off delivery or a regular round, including at night when your customers take delivery before service.

That is what we do for a Pret A Manger franchisee: refrigerated rounds from its central production units to its shops, within their delivery and closing times.

A team that follows every delivery, 7 days a week

A driver held up on the North Circular, a loading bay that is taken, a recipient who is out: the Shippr team follows your deliveries, lets you know and looks for a solution. You no longer chase a carrier, and your dashboard shows real-time tracking, photos and proof-of-delivery signatures.

Beyond Greater London

London is not where we stop: we deliver throughout the United Kingdom. A round can leave London for Kent or Surrey, or come into town from a warehouse beyond the M25.

Pret A Manger: refrigerated rounds to London shops

This franchisee ran three refrigerated vehicles and its own drivers. It handed its deliveries to Shippr and opened new shops without adding logistics.

Frequently asked questions

Delivering in London: what we are asked

Do you deliver in every London borough?

Yes. We collect and deliver across the 32 boroughs and the City of London, from Barnet to Croydon and from Hillingdon to Havering, and everywhere else in the United Kingdom.

Are your vehicles ULEZ-compliant?

The ULEZ covers every borough, 24 hours a day. A diesel van must be at least Euro 6, a petrol van Euro 4.

For a delivery in London, we send a partner whose vehicle is compliant. You have no charge to pay and no standard to check.

Who pays the Congestion Charge?

It applies to every vehicle in central London, £18 a day during the zone’s hours. We build it into the organisation and the quote for your deliveries in the zone, so you know the cost before you book.

How quickly can a delivery be organised?

Within the day. You give us the addresses, the volumes and the time slot you want; we find the right partner and the right vehicle, and you follow the delivery in real time.

Do you run regular rounds in London?

Yes. Supplying shops from a production unit, delivering to restaurants, refrigerated rounds: that is what we do for Pret A Manger, Farmer J and Kim’s Food, with the same team following them.

Are you a courier in London?

Van or refrigerated vehicle: join Shippr’s partner couriers and choose your jobs.
