D0 in Norwich

Three Norwich rules we build into your same-day orders

Our couriers drive into the streets closed to cars to deliver to your city-centre customers

On several streets in central Norwich, private cars may no longer pass, but buses, taxis, bicycles and delivery vehicles still have access. The courier bringing your same-day order can therefore turn into them and stop where unloading is allowed, rather than finishing on foot from a neighbouring street.

Our couriers drive round Castle Meadow and St Stephens Street, kept for buses and taxis

Castle Meadow is reserved for buses and taxis, as is St Stephens Street in the direction from Surrey Street down to Chapelfield Roundabout, and Surrey Street between All Saints Green and St Stephens Street. A van may not enter them, even for an urgent order. For a customer in that part of the city, we plan the route along streets open to delivery vehicles, and we give them the arrival time worked out on that route; if it is later than their deadline, you know as soon as you book.

We deliver to Costessey the same day by a road open to vans

In Costessey, west of Norwich, part of Dereham Road and Old Dereham Road has been reserved for buses and cycles, day and night, since 20 October 2025. When you book a delivery in the morning for a customer in Costessey, the courier takes another route, and the time we give your customer already allows for that detour; if it is later than their deadline, you know when you book.

Local rules checked in October 2026.

How we work

When you book, we check how and at what time the courier can reach each Norwich address

For a same-day order in Norwich, we start from your customer’s address. If they are on a pedestrianised street in the centre, the time of your order matters as much as the distance: the courier can unload only during the hours when unloading is allowed there, and we set the handover within that window. If the time of a stop changes on the way, it is our team, available every day from 6am to 10pm, that calls the courier and your customer, not you.

When you have several addresses, we put them in order on a round that starts with the customers where unloading stops being allowed earliest. The vehicle is reserved for your same-day order: the partner courier loads at your site and goes straight to your recipients, with no depot in between. Depending on what you send, from a few boxes to the pallets of a restock, we choose a van from 5 m³ or a lorry of more than 20 m³. When there is no space outside your customer’s door, the courier stops where the road markings allow unloading, and the time the handover takes is included in the time we give them.

The businesses that deliver the same day in Norwich

  • Retailers who keep stock in a Broadland or South Norfolk warehouse and restock their city-centre shops, or move stock from one shop to another with a store-to-store transfer.
  • Food wholesalers who top up a restaurant’s or a supermarket’s order the same day when a product runs short.
  • Caterers who send a buffet or a platter to an office in the city, at the time the customer expects it.

The service

What our same-day (D0) delivery includes

The service is the same in all our cities. In Norwich, we organise it around the pedestrianised streets, the bus and taxi stretches, and the places where the courier can unload.

Tailor-made

An organisation that fits your everyday

A collection at a supplier, a restocking round or orders to deliver to your customers: Shippr organises your transport the same day, from the first to the last mile.

Together we define the vehicles, the time slots and the instructions that suit your volumes, your packaging and the storage requirements of your goods. For a one-off job as much as for regular rounds, our operations team coordinates the partners, follows the deliveries and stays your point of contact when something unexpected comes up.

Operational efficiency

Less handling, a smoother flow

Your goods travel from the collection point to their destinations without passing through a sorting centre. Fewer intermediate handlings means less risk of breakage, and the chance to cut back on over-packaging and save on your packaging costs, while keeping the packaging your products need.

The Shippr team follows the progress of the deliveries, coordinates the exchanges with the partners and steps in when something unexpected happens. From your dashboard you find the statuses and the proof of receipt, to inform your customers and organise the rest of your activity.

Your deliveries move. So does your business.

Free your teams from organising transport day after day. Finding partners, passing on the instructions, coordinating and following the rounds: Shippr takes it over, so you can spend more time on your customers and your growth.

A driver who drops out, a blocked access or a peak in orders? Our operations team looks for solutions, coordinates the adjustments and keeps you informed. You keep sight of your deliveries, with one point of contact to help you through the decisions that need making.

Frequently asked questions

What you ask us about same-day delivery in Norwich

I book late in the morning for a Norwich restaurant that serves in the evening: is it delivered D0?

Yes, as long as the courier can deliver it before service. D0 means the same day: the courier collects your goods and hands them over to your customer on the day you book, without going through a sorting centre. When you book, we give you the arrival time; if the restaurant is on a pedestrianised street where unloading is already banned at that time, we tell you straight away when it can be delivered.

Do you deliver the same day from Norwich to Broadland or South Norfolk?

Yes. We collect in Norwich and deliver the same day in Broadland and South Norfolk, and the other way round. For a customer in Costessey, the time we give allows for the courier’s detour around Dereham Road.

Can you move stock between two of my Norwich shops the same day?

Yes. The courier loads at the shop that has the stock and hands it over the same day to the one that is short, in Norwich, Broadland or South Norfolk. If either is on a pedestrianised street, we plan the collection or the handover at a time when unloading is allowed there.

Does one of your Norwich customers need a delivery today?

Send us the collection address, the delivery addresses and each customer’s deadline. We tell you which ones are on a pedestrianised street, then confirm the vehicle and the time it reaches each one.
