Refrigerated transport in Namur: your chilled and frozen goods delivered before opening time.

Meat, fish, dairy, ready meals or frozen goods: in Namur and the 16 municipalities of its district, Shippr carries whatever must not leave the cold chain, as a single delivery or a night round. Our partner couriers in Namur have the fridge unit set to your temperature range, collect from the wholesaler or the central kitchen as production ends, and deliver to restaurants, shops and supermarkets before they open to the public.

Cold goods, in Namur

Three Namur rules that shape a refrigerated round

A night round that goes in from 5am

The pedestrian zone’s first window runs from 5am to 7:30am, every day. A round that collected at night or before dawn from the wholesaler or the central kitchen therefore delivers to the restaurants and shops in the pedestrian zone within that window, well before they open to the public. The next window, from 9am to 11:30am, serves the addresses that take delivery later.

A street under works, a temporary stop

The city is extending the pedestrian zone street by street, with the works expected to end in late 2029. When a street under works cannot be reached, deliveries are made from an existing or temporary loading bay as close to the site as possible. For a refrigerated round, that means a few more metres on foot between the vehicle and the door: we allow for it when we agree the packaging with you.

No LEZ on arrival, one at the start

No low-emission zone applies in Namur: the Walloon LEZ, which was to cover the whole region, was repealed on 26 April 2024 before it came into force. A refrigerated round loading at a wholesaler in Brussels, Antwerp or Ghent does, however, pass through its starting point’s LEZ: we send a refrigerated vehicle that is allowed in, with no pass.

Local rules checked in October 2026.

How we run it

The temperature set before loading, the handovers before opening

In Namur, a refrigerated round starts when production ends and finishes when the shutters go up. In between, the pedestrian zone opens to deliveries from 5am to 7:30am, a window that falls shortly after a night shift’s production ends. What remains is for the vehicle to be at the right temperature, for the collection to happen when the goods are ready, and for each handover to fall in a window when the address can be reached.

All of that is settled before the first collection: we agree the packaging, the loading temperature, when the vehicle is pre-cooled and the instructions at each door with you, then hand the job to a partner courier whose fridge unit holds your range and whose vehicle is big enough for your load. Most often it is a multi-drop round, and often at night: restaurants, shops and supermarkets in the order they take delivery, the pedestrian-zone addresses in their window. The service itself is described on our refrigerated transport page.

The service

Our refrigerated transport, point by point

The service is the same from one city to the next. In Namur it is built around night collections, the 5am–7:30am window in the pedestrian zone and the streets its works close.

Cold-chain expertise

Refrigerated transport starts before departure

Pre-cooling the vehicle, temperature at loading, handling instructions: our team agrees the necessary precautions with you and passes them on to the transport partners.

On your regular refrigerated rounds, data loggers track temperatures during transport. If there is a deviation or anything unexpected, our team coordinates the response with the carrier and keeps you informed.

The right vehicle, from chilled to frozen

Crates, boxes or pallets: Shippr brings in equipped partners for your volumes and your temperature needs, from 0–4 °C to 0–7 °C, or −20 °C for your frozen products.

One-off delivery or a round between your stores, shops and restaurants: we adapt the transport capacity, the frequency of stops and the loading arrangements to the way you work.

The unexpected should not disrupt your business

A carrier unavailable, a vehicle off the road or a rise in orders? The Shippr team finds a replacement that meets your temperature requirements and adjusts the organisation of your rounds.

We coordinate the changes with the partners and let you know the new times, to limit the impact on your supply and your customers.

Frequently asked questions

Cold goods in Namur’s pedestrian zone: your questions

Can you deliver to restaurants in the pedestrian zone before they open?

Yes: the pedestrian zone takes deliveries from 5am to 7:30am, then from 9am to 11:30am. A round that loaded at night hands over your products in the first window; if an address takes delivery later, it moves to the second. We tell you the window for each handover when you book.

Can a refrigerated van stop in a purple zone in Namur?

Yes. The purple zones take deliveries with a free 30-minute ticket, two a day at most, taken at least an hour apart. For a shop or a caterer outside the pedestrian zone, that is one more place where the van can stop close to the door, so your crates spend less time out of the cold.

Can a large-volume round in Namur be done with a refrigerated lorry?

Yes: when the volume calls for it, the round can be done with a refrigerated lorry over 3.5 tonnes. In Namur, a vehicle of that weight unloads at one of the six bays reserved for it at any hour on the one-way loop roads, from place Saint-Aubain to rue Pepin. It must be no longer than 12 metres: beyond that, it needs specific permission from the police and the Mobility department to enter the city centre.

How do I know the cold chain was kept?

On regular rounds, an on-board logger records the temperature continuously, from loading to the last handover. If it leaves the agreed range, our team lets you know and decides what happens next with the partner courier.

A refrigerated round to set up in Namur?

Tell us what you are carrying, at what temperature, and when each of your customers takes delivery. We come back with the proposed vehicle and the order of stops, placed in the pedestrian zone’s windows.
