Montpellier · Refrigerated transport

In Montpellier and from Castries to Fabrègues, we deliver your chilled and frozen products.

Our partner couriers in Montpellier collect your products in the early hours, from your wholesaler or as your central kitchen finishes production, and deliver them before your customers open to the public, in a refrigerated vehicle that carries only your goods: for example, the fruit and vegetables a restaurant in the Écusson expects before 10am, or the frozen goods for a supermarket in Lattes.

Montpellier, chilled and frozen

We fit your refrigerated rounds to three things particular to Montpellier

The courier loads your chilled and frozen products at your distributor in a single visit

On the wholesale market’s refrigerated platform, for example, more than 60 distributors and processors store food products at three temperatures. When your order combines chilled and frozen products, we send a dual-temperature vehicle: the courier loads both at the same place, each in its own compartment, one chilled and the other frozen, and hands them over to your customer together.

Our couriers let themselves into your restaurant in the Écusson before it opens

In the Écusson, the pedestrianised historic centre, deliveries are allowed until 10am, and many restaurants there do not open that early. With the codes or keys you have entrusted to us, the courier goes in without waiting for anyone and puts the goods away in the restaurant’s cold room.

When you book, we tell you whether the courier can enter the pedestrian area where your restaurant is

Outside the Comédie–Esplanade–Antigone area, a vehicle with a specific authorisation may drive through the pedestrian areas at walking pace, 6 km/h, without getting in pedestrians’ way, but may not park there: only a time-limited stop is allowed. For your restaurants in Port Marianne or Celleneuve, we tell you when you book whether the refrigerated vehicle chosen can drive up to their door, and we fit that stretch into the order of the round.

Local rules checked in October 2026.

How we organise it

We deliver to central Montpellier first, then the rest of the Métropole

A refrigerated round in Montpellier is timed around two moments: when your products are ready and when your first customer opens. The courier loads in the early hours, at your wholesaler or your central kitchen, then delivers to the Écusson first, where deliveries are allowed until 10am, and Antigone, until 11am, before your customers in the rest of the Métropole. The low-emission zone applies 24 hours a day in the Métropole’s 31 municipalities, at night as by day: so the refrigerated vehicle we send is allowed there from the collection in the early hours to your last customer.

Before we start, we agree with you how each product is packed, its temperature and the time each of your customers takes delivery. We then give the job to a partner courier in Montpellier chosen for their refrigerated vehicle, which the courier brings to temperature before loading and which is reserved for your goods. As you almost always deliver to several customers, we link them into a multi-drop round, and the earliest receive their order through our night deliveries. Our team follows every round, every day from 6am to 10pm. Refrigerated transport is most of what we do; its page describes the service in detail.

The businesses that trust us with their chilled and frozen products in Montpellier

  • Food wholesalers based at the wholesale market or elsewhere in the Métropole, who have to supply the restaurants of the Écusson before 10am.
  • Caterers and central kitchens that prepare meals overnight for their shops or for staff restaurants, from Castelnau-le-Lez to Port Marianne.
  • Retail chains whose shops and supermarkets in Lattes or Vendargues need their chilled and frozen aisles stocked at opening.

If your goods can travel at ambient temperature, our same-day delivery in Montpellier suits them better.

The service

What our refrigerated transport includes

Everywhere we deliver, these three commitments are the same. In Montpellier, we meet them around the wholesale market’s hours, the Écusson’s cut-off and the Métropole’s ZFE.

Cold-chain expertise

Refrigerated transport starts before departure

Pre-cooling the vehicle, temperature at loading, handling instructions: our team agrees the necessary precautions with you and passes them on to the transport partners.

On your regular refrigerated rounds, data loggers track temperatures during transport. If there is a deviation or anything unexpected, our team coordinates the response with the carrier and keeps you informed.

Service continuity

The unexpected should not disrupt your business

A carrier unavailable, a vehicle off the road or a rise in orders? The Shippr team finds a replacement that meets your temperature requirements and adjusts the organisation of your rounds.

We coordinate the changes with the partners and let you know the new times, to limit the impact on your supply and your customers.

Frequently asked questions

What our Montpellier customers ask about transporting their chilled and frozen products

My fruit and vegetable wholesaler is at Montpellier’s wholesale market (MIN): can you collect my order there on Thursday morning?

No, usually not: on Thursdays, the market’s fruit and vegetable wholesalers trade from 2pm to 5pm, and hours can vary from one wholesaler to another. We then plan the collection for your wholesaler’s hours, in the afternoon, or the next day from 5am.

I deliver to my restaurants in Port Marianne every week: how do I know the temperature was kept?

On a regular round, an on-board data logger records the temperature continuously, and you are alerted as soon as it leaves the agreed range: 0 to 4 °C, or 0 to 7 °C depending on the product, for chilled goods, and −20 °C for frozen goods.

For a supermarket in Saint-Jean-de-Védas, I need a refrigerated lorry over 3.5 t: is that possible?

Yes, it is possible, but not guaranteed. As soon as you book, we check whether one of our partners in Montpellier has a refrigerated lorry over 3.5 t free that day, and give you the answer straight away.

Do your Montpellier customers need their fresh produce before they open?

Tell us what you transport, at what temperature, when your products are ready and when each customer opens. We propose a refrigerated vehicle, a collection time and the order of your destinations.
