Liège · Refrigerated transport

Refrigerated transport in Liège: your chilled and frozen goods delivered around your constraints.

Meat, cheese, prepared dishes, fresh fruit and vegetables or frozen goods: Shippr moves what has to stay cold in Liège and its district, as a single drop or a night round. Our partners have the refrigeration unit your temperature range calls for; they load at the wholesaler or as the goods leave your production kitchen, and serve your customers before they open to the public.

Cold, the Liège way

Three Liège realities that shape a refrigerated round

Wholesalers open from 4.30am

At the Marché Matinal de Liège in Droixhe, a cooperative open only to fresh-food trade buyers, the wholesalers serve their customers from 4.30am, Monday to Friday. We collect at those hours, there or at your usual wholesaler, so the goods are with your customers before they open.

The centre, before 11.30am

Restaurants and shops in the pedestrian zone can be served only from 7am to 11.30am, and from 9am to 11.30am in the historic centre. A cold round that loaded before dawn arrives inside the window, without leaving the goods waiting at a closed door.

No LEZ on arrival, one at departure

Wallonia sets no Euro standard for driving into Liège. A round that loads in Brussels or Flanders is still bound by the LEZ where it starts, diesel fridge unit included, and there we use a refrigerated vehicle allowed into the zone with no pass.

Local rules checked in October 2026.

How we run it

Temperature agreed the day before, the round finished by 11.30am

In Liège, the cold starts before daylight. The wholesalers open at 4.30am, production kitchens finish overnight, and city-centre customers have to be served before 11.30am, when the pedestrian zones close to vehicles. In between runs a refrigerated round: a vehicle at the right temperature, collections at the time the goods are ready, handovers in the order the doors open.

Everything is settled before the first collection: how the goods are packed, the temperature they go on board at, when the vehicle is pre-cooled, and what the driver needs to know at each door. The job then goes to a partner whose unit holds your range and whose body has room for your load. Most often it is a multi-drop round, restaurants, shops and supermarkets in the order they receive, and often at night. The page for our refrigerated transport describes the service itself.

The service

Our refrigerated transport, point by point

The service is the same in all our cities. In Liège it works around collections before dawn and the pedestrian zones’ morning window.

Refrigerated transport starts before departure

Pre-cooling the vehicle, temperature at loading, handling instructions: our team agrees the necessary precautions with you and passes them on to the transport partners.

On your regular refrigerated rounds, data loggers track temperatures during transport. If there is a deviation or anything unexpected, our team coordinates the response with the carrier and keeps you informed.

The right vehicle, from chilled to frozen

Crates, boxes or pallets: Shippr brings in equipped partners for your volumes and your temperature needs, from 0–4 °C to 0–7 °C, or −20 °C for your frozen products.

One-off delivery or a round between your stores, shops and restaurants: we adapt the transport capacity, the frequency of stops and the loading arrangements to the way you work.

The unexpected should not disrupt your business

A carrier unavailable, a vehicle off the road or a rise in orders? The Shippr team finds a replacement that meets your temperature requirements and adjusts the organisation of your rounds.

We coordinate the changes with the partners and let you know the new times, to limit the impact on your supply and your customers.

Frequently asked questions

Refrigerated transport in Liège: your questions

Which temperatures do you hold in Liège?

Chilled, from 0–4 °C to 0–7 °C depending on the goods, and frozen at −20 °C. The round goes to a partner equipped for your range, and the vehicle is brought to temperature before loading.

Can you collect from the Marché Matinal de Liège in Droixhe?

Yes, as from any wholesaler in the district, at the time your order is ready: from 4.30am on weekdays. The round then serves your outlets or your customers, the city centre first.

Do you supply city-centre restaurants before they open?

Yes, between 7am and 11.30am in the pedestrian zone, and between 9am and 11.30am in the historic centre. Outside the pedestrian zone the handover can be earlier still, first thing in the morning, if your customer has someone to receive it.

How do you prove the cold chain held?

On a regular round, an on-board recorder logs the temperature continuously, from loading to the last handover. If it drifts, our team lets you know and agrees the next step with the partner.
