Oxford · Same-day delivery

In Oxford, we deliver the same day, from the city centre to Cherwell and the Vale of White Horse.

A restock for a shop on Cornmarket Street, a part a Cherwell workshop orders in the morning for a machine that has stopped, the products a West Oxfordshire restaurant is short of: Shippr delivers them on D0 across Oxfordshire’s five districts. When you book, we set a handover time for each order that respects the hours of George Street and of the High Street gate between Queen’s Lane and Catte Street, and a route that avoids the bus gates.

D0 in Oxford

We set the time of each same-day order around three rules of central Oxford

We deliver a morning order for George Street before 10am, or from 6pm the same day

From 10am to 6pm, George Street is reserved for buses, taxis, private hire vehicles and emergency vehicles; from 6pm to 10am, a vehicle may enter it to unload. An order placed in the morning for a customer on George Street is therefore delivered before 10am if it is ready in time, otherwise from 6pm the same day, and you know that time as soon as you book.

During the day, our couriers drive round the High Street bus gate

On High Street, between Queen’s Lane and Catte Street, the gate is reserved from 7.30am to 6.30pm for buses, taxis, private hire vehicles and emergency vehicles, and the gate is camera-enforced, with a £70 penalty charge. Between 7.30am and 6.30pm, the courier reaches your customer by another route, which our planning and routing algorithms choose, and we give your customer the arrival time worked out on that route.

For a shop on pedestrianised Market Street, the courier carries your same-day order on foot from a marked loading bay

Market Street is reserved for pedestrians and cyclists at all times; a vehicle enters it only to unload in a marked bay. For a shop or restaurant on Market Street, the courier therefore stops with the same-day order in one of those bays and delivers it on foot, and the time we give you at booking is when it is handed over at the door.

Local rules checked in October 2026.

How we work

When you book, we check what time each customer can receive their delivery today

For a same-day delivery in Oxford, we first look at what time your customer can be delivered to in their street. During the day, three rules limit how a vehicle can cross the centre: a vehicle may enter George Street to unload only between 6pm and 10am, the High Street gate between Queen’s Lane and Catte Street is reserved for buses from 7.30am to 6.30pm, and Castle Street, Magdalen Street and Folly Bridge are reserved day and night. For an address in one of the 9 streets of the zero emission zone, we book a compliant vehicle. The six traffic filters the county council is trialling do not apply to our vans or lorries. Our team tells your customer when the courier will arrive and contacts the courier when a stop changes, every day from 6am to 10pm.

When you book, we note for each address its district, its street and the time your customer expects their goods. Several addresses make a round, whose stops we put in order so that none falls on a gate that is closed at that time. The partner courier who loads at your site carries only your goods, and drives straight to your customers.

The businesses that deliver the same day in Oxford and Oxfordshire

  • Retailers who restock their shops on Cornmarket Street or Queen Street, or move stock from one shop to another with a store-to-store transfer.
  • Workshops and factories in Cherwell or the Vale of White Horse that order a spare part in the morning to get a machine running again.
  • Food wholesalers and caterers who top up a city-centre restaurant’s order the same day, delivered around the hours of its street.

The service

What our same-day (D0) delivery includes

This service is the same in all our cities. In Oxford, we organise it around the hours of George Street and of the High Street gate between Queen’s Lane and Catte Street, and around the city centre’s zero emission zone.

Tailor-made

An organisation that fits your everyday

A collection at a supplier, a restocking round or orders to deliver to your customers: Shippr organises your transport the same day, from the first to the last mile.

Together we define the vehicles, the time slots and the instructions that suit your volumes, your packaging and the storage requirements of your goods. For a one-off job as much as for regular rounds, our operations team coordinates the partners, follows the deliveries and stays your point of contact when something unexpected comes up.

Operational efficiency

Less handling, a smoother flow

Your goods travel from the collection point to their destinations without passing through a sorting centre. Fewer intermediate handlings means less risk of breakage, and the chance to cut back on over-packaging and save on your packaging costs, while keeping the packaging your products need.

The Shippr team follows the progress of the deliveries, coordinates the exchanges with the partners and steps in when something unexpected happens. From your dashboard you find the statuses and the proof of receipt, to inform your customers and organise the rest of your activity.

Save time

Your deliveries move. So does your business.

Free your teams from organising transport day after day. Finding partners, passing on the instructions, coordinating and following the rounds: Shippr takes it over, so you can spend more time on your customers and your growth.

A driver who drops out, a blocked access or a peak in orders? Our operations team looks for solutions, coordinates the adjustments and keeps you informed. You keep sight of your deliveries, with one point of contact to help you through the decisions that need making.

Frequently asked questions

What you ask us about same-day delivery in Oxford

What does D0 mean for a delivery in Oxford?

D0 means the same day: we collect your goods and hand them over to your customer on the day you order, without passing through a sorting centre. In Oxford, the handover time also depends on your customer’s street: on George Street, for example, we deliver before 10am or from 6pm.

Can you deliver to a customer in Oxford the same day on a Sunday?

Yes. We deliver the same day seven days a week, by day and by night, and our team tracks your deliveries from 6am to 10pm. On Sundays too, the zero emission zone charges from 7am to 7pm: for a customer in one of its 9 streets, we book a compliant vehicle, as on weekdays.

Do you deliver the same day from Oxford to Cherwell or South Oxfordshire?

Yes. We collect in Oxford and deliver the same day to Cherwell, South Oxfordshire, West Oxfordshire or the Vale of White Horse, as in the city centre.

My order is several pallets: which vehicle do you send?

A lorry of more than 20 m³ for a large load, a van from 5 m³ for a restock. The courier unloads at the dock, with a sack truck or a pallet truck, and can put the goods on the shelves if you ask.

Does a customer in Oxford need their delivery today?

Send us the collection address, your customers’ addresses and each one’s latest delivery time. We tell you which of them are on George Street, on High Street or in the zero emission zone, then confirm the vehicle and the time it reaches each customer.
