Nottingham · Refrigerated transport

In Greater Nottingham, we deliver your chilled and frozen products before opening time.

As soon as your production is ready, at night or before dawn, one of our partner couriers in Nottingham loads your ready meals, meat, dairy products or ice cream at your central kitchen or your wholesaler. They then hand them over to your restaurants, shops and supermarkets, in the centre as well as in Arnold or West Bridgford, before the time each one opens to the public.

Three Nottingham rules shape our night refrigerated rounds

On the pedestrian section of Carrington Street, we deliver to your customer between 6am and 10am

Between Collin Street and Canal Street, loading on Carrington Street is allowed only from 6am to 10am. When your customer is on that section, we place their stop in that window and the order of the other stops follows from it; if the round cannot reach them in time, we tell you when you book.

Near Chapel Bar, we can deliver to your customer in the middle of the night

On Mount Street, near Chapel Bar, a loading bay is for loading from midnight to 10am, then from 4.30pm to midnight. For a customer nearby, we can therefore set the stop in the middle of the night, right after collecting from you, without waiting for the morning, and you read the time we have chosen on your booking.

On part of Lower Parliament Street, we deliver to your customer before 7am

Between Glasshouse Street and Milton Street, loading is banned from 7am to 10am and from 4pm to 7pm, and a vehicle stopped during those hours gets an immediate penalty charge. A delivery planned just before opening would fall in the first window. For a customer on that section, we set the stop before 7am, and we give you the resulting arrival time when you book.

Local rules checked in October 2026.

How we work

We order the stops on your round around the hours of Nottingham’s city centre

In Nottingham, we start a refrigerated round by setting two times: when your goods are ready and when each customer opens. Between the two, the rules of the centre set the order of the stops. We deliver to the Clear Zone’s pedestrian streets before 10am, and to the street where loading is banned from 7am, Lower Parliament Street between Glasshouse Street and Milton Street, earlier still. Nottingham has no Clean Air Zone: we choose the refrigerated vehicle for your load.

Before the first round, we agree with you on the packaging and the temperature range of each product. The body is already cold when the courier arrives at your site, in the middle of the night or just before daybreak. We give the job to a partner based in Nottingham, chosen for their refrigerated vehicle, which is reserved for your goods alone. As you usually deliver to several addresses, we put the stops in order as a round according to each one’s opening time, and it goes out as a night delivery when the first customer takes deliveries early. From 6am to 10pm, every day, our team follows the round and chases any recipient who doesn’t answer. Our refrigerated transport page describes the full service.

The service

What our refrigerated transport includes

We offer it wherever we deliver. In Nottingham, we organise it around night collections, the pedestrian streets open to loading before 10am and the street where loading is banned from 7am.

Cold-chain expertise

Refrigerated transport starts before departure

Pre-cooling the vehicle, temperature at loading, handling instructions: our team agrees the necessary precautions with you and passes them on to the transport partners.

On your regular refrigerated rounds, data loggers track temperatures during transport. If there is a deviation or anything unexpected, our team coordinates the response with the carrier and keeps you informed.

Crates, boxes or pallets: Shippr brings in equipped partners for your volumes and your temperature needs, from 0–4 °C to 0–7 °C, or −20 °C for your frozen products.

One-off delivery or a round between your stores, shops and restaurants: we adapt the transport capacity, the frequency of stops and the loading arrangements to the way you work.

Service continuity

The unexpected should not disrupt your business

A carrier unavailable, a vehicle off the road or a rise in orders? The Shippr team finds a replacement that meets your temperature requirements and adjusts the organisation of your rounds.

We coordinate the changes with the partners and let you know the new times, to limit the impact on your supply and your customers.

Frequently asked questions

What you ask us about refrigerated transport in Nottingham

Can my chilled and frozen products go on the same round?

Yes. We use single- or dual-temperature refrigerated vehicles: your chilled products travel at 0–4 °C or 0–7 °C, depending on what they can take, and your frozen goods at −20 °C. We cool the body before you load. On a regular round, an on-board logger records the temperature continuously, and you are alerted as soon as it moves away from the set point.

My shop is still closed when the round arrives: who takes in my products?

The courier takes them in themselves if you entrust them with your door codes or keys (an unattended drop). They put the goods in your cold room or your refrigerated display, and you receive the proof of delivery. Many of our customers work this way.

Is a refrigerated lorry over 3.5 t possible for my pallets?

Yes, it is possible, though not guaranteed: we confirm when you book whether your load can go in a refrigerated lorry.

Do you deliver chilled and frozen goods to Hucknall, Arnold or Long Eaton?

Yes. We deliver chilled and frozen goods everywhere in Greater Nottingham, its five districts as well as Hucknall, and a round can also end elsewhere in the United Kingdom.

Do your Nottingham customers need their fresh products before they open?

List your products and their temperature, each customer’s address and opening time, and tell us which of them are on a pedestrian street in the centre. In return, we offer you a refrigerated vehicle, a collection time at your site and a delivery time for each customer.
