Charleroi · Refrigerated transport

In Charleroi, our refrigerated rounds run at night so your customers are delivered before they open to the public.

Meat, fish, dairy, ready meals or frozen goods: Shippr carries what has to stay cold across the Charleroi district, from a single handover to a night round. Our partner couriers in Charleroi collect as it leaves your central kitchen, production kitchen or warehouse, with the fridge unit your temperature range needs, and drop off at restaurants, shops and supermarkets before they open.

Three Charleroi rules that shape a refrigerated round

A night round that finishes before 10am

In Charleroi, loading or unloading between 10pm and 7am requires the mayor’s authorisation; our partner couriers hold it, so your chilled goods can leave a Charleroi warehouse in the middle of the night. The round enters the pedestrian streets when the bollards lower, at 4am, and has to be out by 10am: it serves the Ville-Basse restaurants and shops first, before they open to the public, then the district’s supermarkets.

A reefer allowed into the LEZ where it loads

Fresh goods loaded in Brussels, Antwerp or Ghent for your Charleroi customers start inside a low-emission zone. The refrigerated vehicle we send there is allowed in with no pass, and it is the one that delivers all the way to Charleroi: nothing is transferred on the way, and the body stays shut and at temperature from your loading dock to the first customer.

Free street parking for early drops

In the centre, street parking is free until 9am, so a refrigerated van making early-morning drops parks without paying, and can unload several orders at one stop, with the body doors shut between drops.

How we run it

The temperature set before loading, the pedestrian streets served before 10am

In Charleroi, a refrigerated round fits between two limits: the end of production at your premises, and 10am, when the Ville-Basse bollards go up. In between, it serves the restaurants and shops in the centre before they open, then the district’s supermarkets, from Courcelles to Farciennes, at the time each one takes deliveries.

We agree with you the packaging, the temperature range and the instructions for each handover, and hand the round to a partner whose load space and fridge unit suit your consignment. It is almost always a multi-drop round, often at night, in an order that follows the centre’s rules: the pedestrian streets first, before 10am, then the rest of the district. The service itself is described on our refrigerated transport page.

Who follows your round

Our team follows every refrigerated round and answers every day, from 6am to 10pm. If a restaurant owner is not there to take the delivery, or access to the pedestrian zone is blocked, the team decides with the courier what happens next, while the goods stay in the body at temperature, and it is the team that lets you know. Your own staff do not have to watch for the refrigerated van at each customer.

The service

Our refrigerated transport, point by point

The service is the same from one city to the next. In Charleroi, it is organised around night collections and 10am, when the pedestrian-zone bollards go up.

Refrigerated transport starts before departure

Pre-cooling the vehicle, temperature at loading, handling instructions: our team agrees the necessary precautions with you and passes them on to the transport partners.

On your regular refrigerated rounds, data loggers track temperatures during transport. If there is a deviation or anything unexpected, our team coordinates the response with the carrier and keeps you informed.

The unexpected should not disrupt your business

A carrier unavailable, a vehicle off the road or a rise in orders? The Shippr team finds a replacement that meets your temperature requirements and adjusts the organisation of your rounds.

We coordinate the changes with the partners and let you know the new times, to limit the impact on your supply and your customers.

Frequently asked questions

Refrigerated transport in Charleroi: your questions

Can you collect as production ends and deliver to a Ville-Basse restaurant before it opens?

Yes. The partner collects as the goods leave your central kitchen or warehouse, at night or before dawn, with the refrigerated body already at temperature, and the cold chain holds until the last handover. The restaurant receives its goods before 10am and before it opens; the time is set as soon as you book, and if it cannot be kept, you know before you confirm.

How do the goods stay cold all the way to a shop in the pedestrian zone?

The vehicle is brought to temperature before loading, chilled (0–4 °C or 0–7 °C depending on the product) or frozen (−20 °C), and the goods stay in the refrigerated body until handover. Pedestrian-zone addresses go first on the round, before 10am. On regular rounds, an on-board logger records the temperature continuously, and our team alerts you if it drifts.

Can you deliver to a supermarket outside the centre after 10am?

Yes. The bollards close only the pedestrian streets and some shared-space zones in the centre. We deliver to a supermarket in Fleurus or Gerpinnes at the time it takes deliveries, and the round places it after the addresses in the centre.

Does your production need to reach your Charleroi customers cold, before they open?

Tell us what you carry, at what temperature and from what time each customer takes delivery. We come back with the proposed vehicle and the order of stops, those in the centre placed before 10am.
