Manchester · Same-day delivery

In Manchester, we deliver the same day, on routes that avoid the city centre’s bus gates.

A restock a Northern Quarter shop is waiting for this afternoon, a part a Trafford workshop needs to restart its line, orders from a Salford online retailer for its customers in Stockport and Bury: Shippr delivers them on D0 across the ten boroughs of Greater Manchester, with a vehicle chosen for the volume and a route that goes around the streets closed to vans.

Same-day, the Manchester way

Three rules decide when a same-day handover happens

Our routes go around the bus gates

Deansgate, King Street, Portland Street, Princess Street and Bridge Street have sections closed to vans day and night, Oxford Road from 6am to 9pm. A journey that would cut straight across the centre therefore takes a detour: we work it out when you book, and the handover time you receive already includes it.

A late order for Thomas Street goes in the evening

Thomas Street takes vehicles only from 6am to 10am and from 6pm to 7pm. An order placed late in the morning for an address on that street is handed over in the evening window, or the next day before 10am: we tell you which when you book.

The courier stops where loading is allowed

Manchester has loading bays open to every vehicle and others reserved for goods vehicles, with hours that vary. However tight the deadline, our partner stops only where loading is allowed at that time: stopping during a ban costs up to £70 and holds up the whole round.

Local rules checked in October 2026.

How we work

We take the order, then follow the delivery through to the handover

An order placed at 10am for an address in central Manchester does not depend on the distance. It depends on the route, because several streets in the centre are closed to vans, and on the time, because some addresses accept vehicles only at specific moments. Finding a carrier who knows that, then calling the driver and the recipient until the handover: that is the time your teams lose, and it is the time we take back.

Tell us where to collect, which addresses to deliver to and in which boroughs, what volume and by what time. Our partner couriers in Manchester then take the job in a vehicle reserved for your order, which goes from your site to your recipients without passing through a warehouse. For a single address, the partner goes from your site to the recipient on a route that avoids the bus gates; for several, we group them into a round where each handover goes into the window its address allows, as on Thomas Street. If a window cannot be kept, we tell you when you book, and you can reach our team every day from 6am to 10pm until the delivery is done.

Our refrigerated rounds leave your central kitchen or your wholesaler before dawn

If your products have to stay chilled or frozen from your central kitchen or a wholesaler, at New Smithfield for example, all the way to your customers, see our refrigerated transport in Manchester page.

The service

What our same-day (D0) delivery includes

These three commitments are the same everywhere we deliver. In Manchester, they are organised around the bus gates in the centre and the streets that open to vehicles only at certain hours.

Tailor-made

An organisation that fits your everyday

A collection at a supplier, a restocking round or orders to deliver to your customers: Shippr organises your transport the same day, from the first to the last mile.

Together we define the vehicles, the time slots and the instructions that suit your volumes, your packaging and the storage requirements of your goods. For a one-off job as much as for regular rounds, our operations team coordinates the partners, follows the deliveries and stays your point of contact when something unexpected comes up.

Operational efficiency

Less handling, a smoother flow

Your goods travel from the collection point to their destinations without passing through a sorting centre. Fewer intermediate handlings means less risk of breakage, and the chance to cut back on over-packaging and save on your packaging costs, while keeping the packaging your products need.

The Shippr team follows the progress of the deliveries, coordinates the exchanges with the partners and steps in when something unexpected happens. From your dashboard you find the statuses and the proof of receipt, to inform your customers and organise the rest of your activity.

Save time

Your deliveries move. So does your business.

Free your teams from organising transport day after day. Finding partners, passing on the instructions, coordinating and following the rounds: Shippr takes it over, so you can spend more time on your customers and your growth.

A driver who drops out, a blocked access or a peak in orders? Our operations team looks for solutions, coordinates the adjustments and keeps you informed. You keep sight of your deliveries, with one point of contact to help you through the decisions that need making.

Frequently asked questions

What you ask us before a same-day delivery in Manchester

What does D0 mean?

Same day: the goods are collected and delivered on the day you order, with no night in a sorting centre. D0 is how we write it, as opposed to D+1 for a carrier that delivers the next day. In Manchester, the delivery happens within the day, at a time when the address accepts vehicles.

My customer is on Thomas Street and I order at 11am: do you deliver today?

Yes, we deliver in the evening window, between 6pm and 7pm, if the journey allows; otherwise, we deliver the next morning, between 6am and 10am. We tell you which window we have chosen when you book, before you confirm.

Do you deliver the same day to Wigan, Rochdale or Oldham?

Yes, we deliver the same day across the ten boroughs of Greater Manchester, Wigan, Rochdale and Oldham included. There, as in the centre, each handover goes into the window its address allows, and our planning algorithms set the order of the round.

Do the bus gates delay a same-day delivery?

They lengthen some journeys, not the lead time we give you: the route that avoids them is worked out when you book. Driving through a bus gate is never a way to save time, since a van risks a £70 penalty there.

Do I need a vehicle of a particular Euro standard to deliver in Manchester within the day?

No. With no clean air charge in Greater Manchester, a last-minute order does not wait for a compliant vehicle to come free: we hand it to an available vehicle that suits your volume and your addresses, from a van to a 20 m³ truck, with no standard to check before it leaves.

Do you have a delivery to make in Manchester today?

Send us the collection address, the delivery addresses and each customer’s deadline. We will come back with the chosen vehicle and a time for each handover, Thomas Street’s hours included.
